There was a problem.
Phillipe Starck and his team needed an interactive sales tool for the new Yoo by Starck hotel in Gramercy Park, NYC.
I helped solve it.
Philippe Starck needs no introduction – he’s one of the world’s most revered living designers. It was all at once exciting and intimidating to be given the opportunity to design something for him. After meeting with Philippe the first time, we knew we had to inject his amazingly quirky personality into the project.
This was the age of flash and also a time when, thanks to Apple, this new touchscreen thing was all the rage. Crazy to think of life before swiping and tapping away at screens. The idea was to design an interactive kiosk that can be read like a book by swiping left and right and place them all over the city. Including Philippe’s quirkiness came in the form of him holding the book and reacting to various user inputs in humorous ways.
